Great food every time I've been to this La Pinata location. The chips and salsa are quite tasty as well.
The service is mediocre at best.
We waited quite awhile for the waitress to not only take our initial order but also to become available to bring the check.
The bar is located towards the rear, plenty of LED screens to watch the game on. -

If you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, this is not the place to go. The food was extremely disappointing and I only ordered tacos. The tacos were overstuffed with meat and the cilantro & onion was almost non-existent. The food was just BLAND. My cousin liked her flautas but her partner didn't like his carne assada burrito. The service was meh because we had to ask the waiter to come over and take our orders and when my food came out, there were 2 instead of 3.
I definitely don't recommend this place of you're looking for something good to eat. If you're out late and need something filling, this is the place for you. -

I'm not one to write a negative review but I have to admit that I am just so disappointed with my experience at La Pinata today. I've been coming here for years and have always enjoyed it. Their huevos divorciados with the verde chilaquiles has always been a great Mexican breakfast option.
Today we had a large party of (7) adults and (4) kids. Right off the bat, the service seemed totally off. We had to flag someone down to get our drink order going which took three different trips from the servers to get correct and complete. We asked for water at least three times as well to the point where my wife had to go to the bar to get water for our daughter. They did recruit another server to bring out the food and the food orders did seem to be accurate. My wife's huevos rancheros was served cold though and our daughter's hash browns were over-deep-fried frozen patty style. The breakfast buffet looked great and the chile verde and the mole was decent but a lot of the breakfast options were cold also. I eventually just started using menudo broth in a bowl to warm up the food I wanted from the buffet. Also, there were no tortillas available at the buffet or offered from the servers so another strike there.
We never received our waters and were not approached after the food was served. I watched the staff and saw them moving quickly and the restaurant was about 1/2 full but couldn't make sense of why it seemed so difficult to deliver the basics today. It's just too bad because I was looking forward to coming here today. As always, I will give them another shot in the future assuming this is just one of those off days.
One star added for the decent carne from the buffet. Not sure if this store is connected to the one in Hayward -

This place isn't even worth a STAR.... first of all, asked if Happy Hour was in a certain area and the host said the whole restaurant can be served happy hour. We were given menus but no happy hour menu so asked the waitress if there was a separate happy hour menu and the host comes over and says "it's in the menu". He grabs the menu trying to look for it and it wasn't there. He said they must have changed the menu again. So when asked what is on the Happy Hour Menu they were just making it up.

My sister absolutely loves this place! I usually tagalong for moral support and to order my go to meal (the enchiladas verde.) I feel like the food at the San Leandro location is a little bit better than the Concord one. The food here was pretty good. Everything had pretty good flavor and we were happy with what we ordered. Things could have been a bit better seasoned but, in general, we were happy. Service was excellent like always.
